I also had the absolute pleasure of meeting the Married With Luggage writers (and travel extraordinaires!) in person! We went to my favorite restaurant in Chinatown (I should've gotten another order of pork buns - never can get enough of 'em!) which they loved, as well. It's always a small triumph when I introduce people to places I like, and they're just as keen on it as I am. Betsey and Warren were so nice and easy to talk to, full of great stories and ideas - veritable founts of knowledge acquired from their travels all over the world. They got my travel bug jittering inside me again. While I know right now isn't the time to buy a ticket and ditch this concrete jungle (being in two shows and having several more on the horizon), it definitely got me kicked in gear about getting rid of all this STUFF I seem to have acquired.
Muay Thai has been fantastic. I really love the all over body workout it gives me. I'm drenched in sweat within the first 20minutes, and it feels great I'm on a steep learning curve and love getting to discover new skills and hone myself - people have told me I'm a natural at it. I think it helps I've been dancing for many years and horse riding for even longer, so I have all that underlying muscle built up. I like that it's more intense than kickboxing. Though it's also dangerous - I've injured myself several times already and someone missed the pads when working on knee "kicks" and jammed me in the pelvis. It's still a bit sore. But everyone at Evolution is so nice and I always get a lot of great instruction from the teachers and students who have been doing it for a while. Looks like I hit upon the right place my first time out!
I'm also contemplating how to save money this month. Ideas/suggestions? (something useful, not just "don't spend money"). I was thinking putting aside X amount of money per week and ONLY using that. Or figuring out where I'd need to spend money each week/on what - food, activities, etc. and then ONLY spend money on those agreed upon (with myself :P) situations. I suppose I could try both and see which one actually works. So this week I'm going to make a list of things I know I'll need to spend money on/to do. Next week I'll set a chunk aside.
Tomorrow I'm heading up to a friend's apt for a cookout and to watch the fireworks (and also to hang with her adorable new puppy!!!). I'm quite excited :) It's nice learning how to relax and just enjoy the moment (something I'm notoriously bad at). But with a bit of time and my good friend's help, I think I'll learn :)
