Well, I did it! I mailed in all the necessary paper work and the check for my booth space! A little drama was experienced along the way. I saw that the Association is located right on 9th Ave, not very far from my apartment - I would've felt much better delivering it in person, making sure everything was there and properly done, etc. etc., so I called their number to make an appointment. No answer, so I left a message. Thursday night rolls around and I wait until I know their office is open and call again. No answer. It took them a while to respond to my initial email, so I figured I'd give them one more day to call me back. Friday night arrives, no news from them, so I call and again no one picks up. I don't leave a message. Instead, I grab my papers and traipse on down to their office, which on their message is open every night 6-10pm. I knock on the door several times and wait around 5-10 minutes, hoping someone will answer. No luck. Irritated, I head back home (picking up strawberries, 2 boxes for $3 along the way) to get an envelope and stamp, and on my way out to meet some friends I popped that sucker in the mailbox. Booyah!

I was going to start this post off by talking about how my brother used to call me "Victorian Frail" when I was a youngster because I was so often sick, and that I've finally kicked that namesake because I haven't felt this great in as long as I can remember - probably because of the new diet. And then...I got sick...Which really, really sucks.
So, you've all been waiting expectantly (well, at least my mother has) for some certain exciting news I mentioned the other week. Well, here it is folks - a day earlier than I planned, even! I have worked long and hard putting this together, and I couldn't have done it without help from my good friend Micah over at XerkMedia. I'm takin' my face painting business to the next level, and here, dear readers, for your viewing pleasure:
Well, it has been a stretch of time, my dear readers. This past week and weekend were pretty hectic.
Last Monday-Wednesday encompassed the Passport to Broadway/Japanese TV thing with AKB48. It was an awesome experience. 5hr audition/introduction Monday, then 13hr days Tuesday and Wednesday - learning all the music and choreography for the 20minute show, and performing it Wed night for an audience of Broadway folk - including composer (of such fame as The Civil War, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Bonnie and Clyde, Jekyll and Hyde, Wonderland) Frank Wildhorn. It was great meeting him, as I'm a huge fan of his music and hope to tackle some of his songs one day. The whole process was quite intense, but I didn't have a problem with any of the work, and found out a bit about myself. Ok, well, not JUST me, but that's what the show is going to be (a one time, and one time only, sensation) and it's going to be filmed by a Japanese television company because 6 girls in the cast are from the Japanese Pop Girl Group AKB48. There are 12 American performers from Broadway and beyond (or behind - is there anything BEYOND Broadway, I ask you, dear readers?). I am one of those performers.
So, I watched The Decoy Bride last night (which stars David Tennant), and it was a fantastic, incredibly funny film. I would love to do a movie like that some day. However, I ended up having nightmares about getting married. All. Night. Long. It was ridiculous. And horrifying. I think I have some deep-seeded commitment issues. It's a darn good thing I'm not in a relationship right now, 'cus after last night's smorgasbord of terror, I probably would've bolted.
Just thought I'd share that with you all before moving on to the real reason of this post - reflecting on Madam Fury's Traveling Show. Well, it happened. It's already over. Kinda hard to believe we're done with it. It took up the last month of my life, and was fantastic, and fun, and so great to be working again - especially on a good/worthwhile piece of new theatre with some truly fantastic people. Well, Madam Fury's Traveling Show is up and performing its tricks to the utmost. Today is our day off, so I actually have a bit of time to catch up!
