1. They have more "canvas" space.
2. They can sit still and don't have trouble talking to you/communicating what they want.
3. They ask for some awesome stuff!
I didn't bring a picture display since the party was in a bar and I'm revamping it anyway, and I figured adults would know what they want/we could figure it out together. With my nifty new iPhone, I was able to quickly and easily look up examples and ideas, too. My favorite face of the night was this girl who wanted something very realistic. I ended up doing this really awesome space theme around her hairline/forehead fading into the rest of her face, complete with planets, little asteroids, stars, and nebula. Apparently she got compliments on it all night! Unfortunately, I didn't get very good pictures of it. I had a terrific time and can't wait to start doing more parties :) I'm really kicking the nervousness I get before painting! Here are a few pics:
My bosses brought up a while back that they want someone to stay over night at the kennel a few times a week. They are monitoring the kennel room 24/7 and have been for 1 1/2yrs - resulting in never a full/good night of rest, and it's been wearing them down. I secretly scoffed at the notion of staying overnight. However, the more I thought about it, I realized:
1. Money is money.
2. I enjoy making money. Like, REALLY enjoy it.
3. Family is visiting me over the next few months, and I know I'm going to want to spend a lot of money, might as well make more of it.
4. I want to travel, and that takes funds. Gotta get it somehow.
So, daylight savings time rolled around and happened to fall on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. Now, I normally work Saturday night, go home late, and get up early for work Sunday morning. As I was already going to be losing an hour between shifts this past week (what genius thought up daylight savings anyway? ugh.) I figured I'd try sleeping at the kennel and see how it went - if I froze to death, and if it was something I'd do again. So, I packed a bag and headed to work. 11pm rolls around, the dogs are away for the night, I pull out the cot, put on my comfy pjs, and hunker down for the night. It was nice that a dog was out in the training room (since all the back kennels were full). Though if anything HAD happened, she would be the most useless dog ever :P
Needless to say, I slept very well Thursday night! But I needed to be up early to finish cleaning the apartment since we had guests coming to stay with us for the weekend. One of my best friend's (since pre-school!) mother and aunt were coming to stay. Their flight got in relatively early, and I was afraid I'd be so tired I'd sleep too late and the place would still be in shambles. But 8.30am rolls around, my alarm goes off, and I'm up and ready to conquer the day! Everything got done before I thought, so I was able to go out to a new little cafe with another friend. It was such a cute place, and right around the corner from me - I will definitely be going back to Bis.Co.Latte and taking my friends with me! They specialize in Biscotti, which I'd never had before. I tried their Cherry Hazelnut one and was completely won over.
